About this cash receipt template
A cash receipt is proof that a payment was made in cash, where no bank or card statement exists as a backup record. That makes the written receipt the only paper trail for both sides - which is why clear cash receipts matter for small businesses, landlords, and private sales.
What a cash receipt includes
- ✓Date, receipt number, and business details
- ✓Description of the goods or services paid for
- ✓Amount paid in cash, amount tendered, and change due
- ✓Name or signature of the person receiving payment
When to use a cash receipt
Use a cash receipt any time money changes hands physically - rent paid in cash, a market purchase, a private sale, or a deposit. Since there is no electronic record, both parties should keep a copy.
